This was our first year of growing shallots from plants. We sold 250 pounds of beautiful shallots from the case of plants that we ordered; we also sold a small amount of shallot plant bunches at the beginning of the season. Several customers purchased shallots every week, even at a price that was much higher than onions.

For next year, we’ve ordered two cases of the shallot plants and figure that our yields will be even higher now that we’ve had some experience in harvesting and handling the mature shallots at our farm stand in Minnesota.

We’re so glad we found Dixondale Farms and added cases of onion plants to our 2022 order, too.
